Spring is here, and that means flowery family photos! The WV Capitol does such a beautiful job landscaping each year that it’s an annual favorite spot for sessions. It’s been a few years since I last did a session with this family, and these sweet kiddos had grown up so much in that time — I think their sibling shots are some of my favorites from this shoot.
We just caught the tail-end of this year’s fall foliage for Kaylynn’s senior session, and I’m so glad we did! She was so sweet and fun to shoot, and her look and style were perfect for this field at sunset!
One of the very best parts of my job is the privilege of shooting the same families year after year and seeing how much kids change in the time between sessions. I’ve been doing annual photos with the Johnsons since 2015, and it blows my mind to remember how tiny Avery and Silas were back then.
These two have been together for many years, and are engaged to be married this Fall! We had a good time shooting our field session, even though the sun was beating down on us and we left completely sweaty! Here are a few of my favorite shots.
Congrats to McKenzie, who’s graduating this month from South Charleston High School! We spent the first half of our session downtown on Capitol and Brawley, then moved up to the fields for a more rural vibe. As you can probably see from the photos, the rain threatened us the entire time we were shooting, but it managed to hold off until the moment we finished up!
Whimsical little sessions like this always make me so happy! Zinnia was such a cute little Alice and loved looking in the mirror and kissing the baby on the other side.
These two have been together for several years, and they were so sweet during their couples session the other day! We were under a high wind advisory that evening, so we had a few good laughs as we battled the elements to keep their hair and clothes in place. Despite that, it was a really fun and successful shoot. You really can’t beat a good field for romantic couples photos.
Valley Park in Hurricane was a perfect place to take these Spring engagement photos. Tim and Shayla are such a lovely couple and were so easy to work with, and I love the sweet images we were able to capture together. I know they’re going to have a happy future together!
Ally is due with baby #2 in just a few short weeks! She and her sweet family were lovely to work with, and I’m still amused by their little one’s extremely serious expressions. We were lucky to catch some of the last bits of Fall color before that night’s rain knocked down most of the leaves, and I love the extra bit of sunset glow we captured in so many of our shots.
Say hello to Lacey, a senior at George Washington High School here in Charleston. We planned her session around sunset in a field, and we got some really nice autumn light and colors that really complemented her look!
